The Yosef Kolko Case
History
In June 2010, Yosef Kolko, aged 36, a former camp counselor and local yeshiva teacher was charged with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment. According to the indictment, the child was between 11 and 12 years old when the more than yearlong alleged abuse began in Lakewood. The alleged victim's family have been subjected to intimidation and harassment after reporting the abuse to the authorities. The case went to trial in May 2013, and three days into the trial, Kolko pled guilty to aggravated sexual assault, attempted aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.
